Health and Safety

Side by Side have robust Health Care policies in place and structures to support all the pupils and their specific needs.   We have links with the local NHS healthcare professionals who advise and provide training to staff as required.   It is important for parents to inform the school manager of any changes in their child’s medical and health needs to ensure our records remain up to date.

Fire Safety is taken seriously in the school and we have an up to date Fire Risk Assessment in place for the school and ensure that each term there are up to 2 fire-drills for staff and pupils to be able to familiarise themselves with our fire procedures.

PUPIL ACHIEVEMENT

We have celebrated several students’ achievements through Asdan accreditation programme in the recent years. Students have followed a range of programmes such as Employability and Award for Personal Development. They have received accreditations and achieved Bronze, Silver and Gold level awards. In Employability a group of students received entry level 2. At SBS we continue to follow variety of programmes, tailoring them to the needs of the pupils. The table below shows the programmes we have been following in the past few years. In addition to the Asdan programmes, the students learn through Pearson’s Functional Maths and Literacy programme which has an emphasis on practical and life skills. Students also attend weekly work experience, many which are linked to their Asdan programmes.
