We are proud of the work we doing to ensure that all students are given the opportunity to engage with and understand the importance of celebrating British Values and for the curriculum to encompass the different elements that form part of the SMSC framework. These themes include:

• Democracy, Rule of Law, Institutions of the State
• Individual liberty, responsibility
• Mutual Respect
• Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs

    Proud to be British!
    Politics, Elections +
Our top class were very involved in the elections! They learnt lots about the general elections and the various parties and their manifestos. Students looked at leaflets of the candidates and what they have to offer! To feel really part of it, they set up their very own polling station at the school involving all the students.

Getting involved in the local Community.
Our school encourage the students to enjoy using local facilities. The school arrange trips to local shops, Museums and libraries often using public transport. These trips encourage our pupils to meet people from the wider community with its multi-cultural and ethnic diversity. One such trip was to a local B&Q store which enabled them to explore different work placements as part of their ‘ready for work’ qualification.

Students also look forward to visits from the local police and neighbourhood team.

Learning about cultures around the world
Children at our school love welcoming all different people into the school. They learn to show understanding, tolerance and respect irrespective of their background, religion or belief.

Secondary boys manage their own monthly diary which highlights important dates of national interest e.g. Remembrance Day, National Literacy weeks etc as well as special dates and festivals that relate to different cultures from around the world.
