Lag Beomer

Pupils from Side by Side school celebrated Lag B’Omer, with a range of special themed activities. The whole school enjoyed a visit from a local farm, which gave the children the opportunity to get up close to a whole host of animals ranging from donkeys, sheep and goats, to ducks, chickens and dogs. As well as learning about and stroking them, the children were thrilled to observe a chicken laying and egg before their eyes.

The festive atmosphere was set with a special Lag B’Omer bonfire, around which the children sang and danced alongside a class of visiting children from the Belz Cheder.

As part of their life skills programme, children from the graduating class even set up an ice cream stall for the younger classes, offering bespoke flavours and toppings. The children learned a whole host of retail skills, from hygienic food preparation, to customer service and monetary transactions.

Gerald Lebrett, Headteacher of Side by Side, said: “Lag B’Omer is always a very special occasion at Side by Side and never more so than this year. The atmosphere was truly electric and a wonderful time was had by pupils, staff and visitors alike. We are very grateful to all who made the day possible and of course to our pupils who work so hard in everything they do and of whom their parents, school and community are incredibly proud.”
